Sustainable Design & Energy Upgrades

Practical steps to lower energy use and lift comfort — woven into the architecture, not bolted on.

Fabric‑first
Passive gains
Renewables‑ready

Who it’s for

  • Homeowners upgrading comfort and running costs alongside design work
  • Retrofits and extensions seeking sensible, staged improvements
  • Clients wanting balanced sustainability without greenwash

You’ll walk away with

  • Prioritised upgrade plan (fabric, ventilation, heating, renewables)
  • Passive measures: shading, solar gain, airtightness & thermal bridges
  • Indicative costs, impact and phasing to suit budget/timing

What happens in this stage

1) Diagnose

We review the building fabric, ventilation and services to find the big wins.

2) Strategise

We create a fabric‑first plan and choose passive/active measures that suit the house.

3) Plan & phase

We map costs/benefits and set a sequence that works with your project timeline.

“The greenest energy is the energy you don’t need — start with fabric, then add tech where it counts.”

What you receive

  • Targeted upgrade plan (PDF) with priorities & phasing
  • Outline specs for insulation, glazing, ventilation & heating improvements
  • Coordination route for SAP/EPC assessors if required

FAQs

Do you provide SAP calculations/EPCs?

We don’t issue SAP/EPC in‑house, but we coordinate with approved assessors and incorporate their guidance into the design.

Can you advise on grants or funding?

We’ll point you to current schemes and help frame specs to meet criteria; availability changes by region and time.

Is a heat pump right for my home?

Only if the fabric supports it. We prioritise insulation/airtightness first, then size systems accordingly.
